As I’ve mentioned in my past posts/comments, I can’t get the 328d out of my mind. I check probably daily because I’m a masochist and like to torment myself. Most the cars I find are in decent shape but above in price/mileage I’d like to pay. I’d say the majority of the 2015 328d’s have about 30-45k miles.

Then.... I found this one, the almost unicorn (missing MT):

https://www.bmwofdenverdowntown.com/certified/BMW/2015-BMW-328d+xDrive-near+denver+co-7a06fb040a0d04fe7ef14cacefa42f5d.htm

A brown diesel wagon. It’s very reasonable on price, $27k; super low miles, 18k. I know I shouldn’t buy it... but that low of miles is amazing.

Kinja'd!!!

I wonder how much extended warranties are....

NP! Not thaaaat ridiculously good to be unbelievable, though. Seems right in line for CPO 3-series, maybe without a wagon tax. I’d go check it out if you’re in Denver. If not, maybe message now but wait for them to actually put pics up before doing anything. I actually wouldn’t be worried about an extended warranty, as the CPO one should be good enough for a while and a late run F30 isn’t really particularly unreliable.

Personally, I’m just annoyed that the 328d is just a rebadged ROW 320d and the 328i can run circles around it. If you’re into diesels, though, I think it’s more than peppy enough. I just would never have payed a _premium_ over a 328i ever.

Brown german diesel wagon? Better as an auto, IMO. Do it!

All the wagons with this low mileage were around $33-35k which is why I thought it was a solid deal.

I’d go check it out if you’re in Denver.

That’s the kicker, I’m 1,600 miles a way. So if I’m going to go look, I’m pretty much committed barring a really bad financing/fees/deceiving car quality, I’d be all in at that point. I looked up the rating/reviews of the dealer and they seem like a quality dealer who isn’t looking to jerk around their customers.

Kinja'd!!!

Your annoyance on rebadge is completely fair and I agree. I think this one is good value on where it’s at. I’m looking for a decent wagon with a good mpg, a good looking interior and most importantly comfortable. I drive 100 miles a day and my impreza is starting to get to my back and simply uncomfortable at times.

How are your yearly maintenance and upkeep costs? How’s insurance? Any long term issues you had?

You are correct. I just meant in terms of unicorn... it’s almost there.

Oooh, that’s nice and near me and at the price point where I’d like to be. I won’t get it, but I’ll pretend that I’m tempted enough to go look at it!

Ha, buy it so I don’t have to move forward with this bad idea. I already sent an email for more info.

This is over 1,600 miles from me. If I do get it, I’m really looking forward to the road trip back.

That’s a really good deal. I’ve had my eye 9n this one, it’s got twice the milage, it’s a year older, and it’s 3 grand more. Although it more heavily optioned.  https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/ctd/d/43mpg-tdi-bmw-sport-wagon/6721835452.html

I budget about $1000 a year for maintenance & repairs. This has been pretty consistent, every year, across two different cars.

Ball joints, bushings, rear springs, front axles, brakes, a sensor here and there, cooling system parts, oil changes. Tires. None of my issues have been major or hard to diagnose, and most of them aren’t bad to DIY if you have a few tools.

Insurance is less than $300/year, but I’m married, 37, and live in a rural area, so our insurance is very cheap.

That’s insanely cheap. I pay $300 every 6 months for my 08 2.5 impreza... Stupid NJ...

Yeah, we have 4 cars (2012 Volvo XC70, 2015 Mini Cooper S, 2003 bmw 325xi wagon, and 1961 Ford F100) and our insurance is something around $1400/yr. Rural living FTW I guess. On the other hand, my wife has to drive an hour for her work, because there’s just not that much work in our immediate area.

That’s nuts. I live in the burbs (long commute though 25k a year). ‘08 Imprez ‘16 Forester and pay $1,600 a year. I need to move.

Nah, it’s all relative. I bet you make more money than I do. Jobs up here don’t pay very well unless you’re in top management type positions.

No manual no go. It seems overpriced as well in this market for the mileage and age, at least in my area.

What price do you see in your area? I looked throughout the whole country and this was the cheapest by $2k. I also didn’t think these came with manuals?

Kinja'd!!! Gerry197 > The Dummy Gummy
11/14/2018 at 21:05

Kinja'd!!!1

Oh my bad, I was thinking F30 touring, not specifically a diesel. Buddy just purchased a loaded 328I manual touring for $22,000 CPO with 34,000 miles out the door.

The diesel I think is practically impossible to find. I also confused the miles in the article, I thought the example had 45,000 miles, not 18,000 miles. That would be indeed a good price.

That’s what I get for reading articles on my cellphone without my reading glasses.

Ha no worries at all. You got me excited! I’m not really sure what to do right now. this car has me in a bad way but the maintenance on beamer, especially diesels has me at a dead lock on what to do.

If this car was $22k, there would be zero hesitation.

My brother’s daily driven E90 with a manual has almost 200K miles. However, it’s now becoming a money pit and he is ready to dump it. My E46 has less miles but is only a weekend canyon car now.

However, t his touring still has a long life ahead of it both in years and mileage , though I would shoot for the longest extended warranty you can afford.
